Navigation Buttons
We've been kicking around the idea for a while of putting some heads-up buttons on the screen for navigation. That is, buttons to press for 'forward', 'back' etc.
Watching a new user yesterday struggle with the QWE/ASD keyboard navigation (mouse navigation was even harder) i decided to add it in sooner rather than later.
So there's now 6 floating overlay buttons which mirror the layout of QWE/ASD.
When you mouse-click a button, the expected thing happens.
But what's really good, i think, is that when you press or release a key on the keyboard, these buttons reflect that. It's a very nice visual feedback.

I like this idea a lot, and I'm still wondering why this type of navigation hasn't been adopted (yet) in base Croquet. I'm also always looking for flexibility, so I would want the options of 1) making the icon set smaller and 2) turning off the icon set display altogether.
Nice job as it is though!
Howdy!
Scaling the icons and turning them off is definitely on the to-do list.
I finally published a version of the software which has these buttons in, so you can try 'em for yourself if you like. It's fairly nice.
(see next blog entry)
They even change when you're in over-head view, which has a different key mapping/meaning.
